An unidentified corpse with multiple injuries has been recovered from under a bridge in Uwheru community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State State.
Though the report was sketchy, it was learned that corpse was mutilated when it was recovered from Orhibirhi bridge along the East/West road in Uwheru community.
According to community sources, “When we discovered the dead body, Tuesday morning, we have to notify the police from the Ughelli Area Command and the Ughelli North Local Government Council.
“We could not identified the deceased because the body was mutilated and we immediately notified all relevant authorities.
Though the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer SP Edafe Bright could not confirm the incident when contacted as he said, “Not aware yet”.
But a senior security source from the Ughelli Area Command who spoke on anonymous condition confirmed the discovery.
The source said, “We were informed that an unidentified lifeless body was discovered at Orhivbirhi bridge, along the East/West axis in Uwheru community.
“The corpse could not be identified as the body was butchered beyond recognition, it was discovered that some parts or vital organs of the deceased were allegedly removed.”
“It is suspected to be a case of ritual killing and the person was killed, the remains was probably dropped at the river by the bridge to avoid suspicion and identification.
“While investigations are ongoing to unravel the cause, we are appealing to communities to report any suspicious movement to the appropriate authorities.” The source held.
